We are seeking an experienced professional with demonstrated success in organizing and leading business and proposal teams, managing all tasks and activities necessary to win new business. The capture manager must be an effective communicator, and a motivated self-starter with the ability to gain internal commitments and support.
The capture manager must have an innate ability and talent to facilitate a vision for winning with the business units, to develop a capture plan that drives the implementation of the vision for winning, adjusting the plan as the opportunity unfolds, and managing the capture activities and team to achieve the win.
Position Description, Responsibilities and Key Qualities:
• Must understand customer needs, industry and competitive strategies, company offerings, and evaluation processes to create a balanced capture plan targeted to win business.
• Track and report on global opportunity pipeline • Facilitate opportunity assessment reviews and deal qualification, including bid/no-bid decisions based on criteria • Prepare and maintain the capture plan for significant opportunities; conduct periodic briefings as required to inform management of capture status and action plans to win • Collect and document intelligence about the customer, procurement, and competition • Develop win themes and discriminators • Brainstorm effective and solid technical, operational, management, personnel, business strategies, approaches and solutions • Assemble and manage the direction of the core capture team (sales, operations, engineering, marketing, projects, manufacturing) • Determines staffing needs and priorities for capture team; leads the selection of reviewers for Team Reviews (Pink, Red, Green, etc.) • Champion opportunities to various stakeholders to build and drive winning pursuit teams • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans • Establish resource needs • Participate in the proposal process, offering strategic guidance and direction; review across and within proposal sections to ensure quality and consistency of messages, the incorporation of win themes and the quality presentation of solutions to ensure maximum technical scoring. • Support preparation and execution of oral presentations and evaluation site visits • Prepare an annual budget and business operating plan |

Position Requirements/Skills & Abilities:
• BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing or Communications required
• 5 to 7 years proposal experience with substantial exposure to business development and capture activities; government bidding experience required • Must be familiar with business management processes and business environments • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate status and progress of the capture plan to business team and upwards to management • Strong leadership skills to achieve effective progress, anticipate problems, and keep capture activities moving forward. • Experience tracking, monitoring, reporting, standardizing and monitoring projects • Proven ability to conduct competitive assessments and solution analysis • Ability to help formulate winning technical, management, past performance and oral presentation strategies • Must have experience working with international business partners, preparing complex technical proposals, and working in new business environments, • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects under tight deadlines • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form successful relationships and collaborate with both internal teams and clients • Must have strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team • Must be proactive, flexible and able to switch gears quickly from one project to the next • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required |
